Nokia 7280 & Variants
When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.
Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver.
Please note that this is one of the most awkward Nokia handsets to dismantle and is even harder to reassemble. Please don't undertake this task lightly.
Step 1. Open the SIM
holder.

Step 2. Open the slider.

Step 3. Use a plastic shim
in the manner shown below to release the slider.

Step 4. Move the slider as
far as it will go (1) and then remove it from its guide (2).

Step 5. Insert your
plastic shim between the two covers and slide it to release all the clips.
Bear in mind that you are supposed to use new covers for reassembly.

Step 6. Now release any
remaining clips.

Step 7. Now you should be
able to easily separate the two covers.

Step 8. Remove the key
pad.

Step 9. Remove the guts of
the phone from the back cover as shown below.

Step 10. Protect the LCD
screen with a film or similar.

Step 11. Use a flat bladed
screwdriver to release the battery lock.

Step 12. Now repeat the
procedure on the opposite side.

Step 13. Remove the
locking ring.

Step 14. Remove the
battery.

Step 15. Unlock the user
interface module by turning it slightly.

Step 16. Lift the user
interface module taking care not to damage the flex connector.

Step 17. Take care when removing the flex and note its position for
reassembly.

Step 18. Use a flat bladed
screwdriver to release the clips shown below.

Step 19. Follow the same
procedure on the opposite side.

Step 20. Move the assembly
slightly to the left as shown below.

Step 21. Turn the C cover
assembly over carefully taking care not to damage the flex.

Step 22. Use your plastic
shim again to remove the flex connector.

Step 23. Release the main
circuit board by carefully bending the two plastic guides as shown below.

Step 24. Now remove the
main circuit board.

Step 25-27. This
section covers removal of the camera module and is included for the sake of
completeness. If you do not have access to the correct tools to do this
job I'd suggest leaving it alone.

Step 28. Using a flat bladed screwdriver
release the clip holding the ear piece in place.

Step 29. Now list the ear piece connector
away.

Step 30. Remove the ear piece.

LCD Screen Replacement.
Step 1. Using a clean lint free cloth,
carefully push the screen out of its housing.

Step 2. Remove any remains of the
existing gasket.

Step 3. Remove any remaining gasket tape
from the old screen.

Step 4. Clean the screen if necessary.

Step 5. Fit new tape to the C cover
taking careful note of correct positioning

Step 7. Now place the new screen into
place taking care not to break it.
