Nokia 6230 & Variants

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts.  Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1.  Protect the screen using a plastic film or similar.

Step 2.  Remove the rear cover by pressing the release button (1), and then sliding the cover in the direction of (2).

Step 3.  Lift the top of the front fascia carefully away from the phone.  You should be able to remove the front fascia completely at this stage, but if it is stiff to remove, see the photo in step 4.

Step 4.  If the front fascia is stiff, use a plastic shim to release it, but do not twist the shim, as this could cause damage to the soft plastic of the fascia.

Step 5.  Now that the fascia has been released, it can be removed from the handset.

Step 6.  At this point, protect the inside of the fascia's screen with a film or similar.

Step 7.  The keypad is easily removed from the front fascia.

Step 8.  Remove the six Torx T6 screws in the order shown below.

Step 9.  With the screws removed, the C-cover can be simply lifted away from the chassis.

Step 10.  Use a plastic shim between the C-cover and the user interface board to separate them at the bottom.

Step 11.  Remove the user interface board by sliding it out of the C-cover in the direction shown below.

Step 12.  Moving back to the main chassis of the phone, you should be able to simply lift the metal screen surround away.  Take care to protect the screen at this point.

Step 13.  Without bending the screen connector, unclip it carefully.

Step 14.  With the screen connector disconnected, you can easily remove the screen itself

Step 15.  The main circuit board will now easily lift from the chassis of the handset.

Step 16.  Place the main circuit board in the c-cover to protect it from damage during the next steps.

Step 17.  Take note that camera removal is shown below using the correct tool for the job.  As you probably can't get hold of one of these, my advice is to leave well alone, but I'll list the pictures here for the sake of completeness.
 

Step 18.  The charger jack can be easily removed using tweezers or the end of a Nokia charger (making sure it's not plugged in at the time). 

Step 19.  Remove the microphone using tweezers.

Step 20.  The vibra motor is held in place by friction, and is easily removed with tweezers.

Step 21.  The power key is simply slotted in place.

Step 22.  The volume keys, are again simply slotted in place.

Step 23.  The aerial is clipped in place and can be removed using a plastic shim to release the clips as shown below.

Step 24.  The internal hands free speaker simply lifts out of its recess.

Step 25.  The IR cover can be removed using your Torx T6 screwdriver, but take care not to scratch it.
