Nokia 6101 & Variants

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts.  Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1.  Protect outer display with a film to prevent damage.

Step 2.  Press the release button (1) and remove the battery cover in the direction indicated by (2).

Step 3.  Place a plastic shim between the surround and keypad and begin to lever the keypad away.

Step 4.  Remove key mat from fascia.

Step 5.  Use your shim to release the aerial cover clip.

Step 6.  Now repeat the above procedure on the opposite side.

Step 7.  Now push the aerial cover upwards, insert your plastic shim and pull the cover up by releasing the clips securing it in place.

Step 8.  Pull the aerial firmly away from the handset.

Step 9.  Remove the four Torx T6 screws in the order shown below and store them safely.

Step 10.  Insert your shim between the C and D frame and slide it carefully along the edge.

Step 11.  Repeat the same procedure on the opposite side.

Step 12.  You should now be able to remove the D cover.

Step 13.  Release the clip of the internal hands free assembly.

Step 14.  Now remove the lid of the internal hands free assembly.

Step 15.  Remove the volume keys by twisting them as shown below.

Step 16.  Now remove the POC key in a similar fashion.

Step 17.  Remove the charger jack using an unplugged charger.

Step 18.  Use a toothpick or dental tool to remove the microphone.

Step 19.  Open the connector shown below using a flat bladed screwdriver taking care not to damage it.

Step 20.  Remove the flap stop using tweezers.

Step 21.  Remove the rubber spacers.

Step 22.  Moving on to upper black disassembly, protect the outer screen.

Step 23.  Remove the battery cover.

Step 24.  The bezel shown below is glued in place but can be loosened using your plastic shim.

Step 25.  Now the bezel has been released it can be removed.

Step 26.  Remove the two Torx T6 screws in the order shown below.

Step 27.  Now close the handset.

Step 28.  Insert your shim between the A and B cover and slide it the length of the handset.

Step 29.  Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.

Step 30.  Remove the A cover.

Step 31.  The user interface module is attached by two clips which can be released using your shim.

Step 32.  Lift out the user interface board and disconnect the coaxial cable.

Step 33.  Protect the inside of the plastic lens.

Step 34.  Protect the LCD screen.

Step 35.  The screen shield is held in place with four clips.

Step 36.  Open the LCD screen connector carefully with your plastic shim.

Step 37.  Use your shim as a lever to remove the screen.

Step 38.  Finally, protect the screen.

Step 39.  And that should be your phone disassembled.  Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps taking care to fully test the handset to ensure that you have not caused any damage or missed any steps.
